NEW LONDON (AP)-- A former Navy submarine technician was sentenced Wednesday to 72 years in prison in the strangling deaths of his girlfriend and their 5-month-old daughter in Groton. Charles A. Davis Jr. had pleaded guilty last month to strangling 20-year- old Belinda Parker and their 5-month-old daughter, Jalen. The mother and child were killed during an argument in her Groton apartment on Jan. 30, 2004.
