Food Operator's Permit Needed for Fairs

Summary

BRANFORD -- Anyone involved with organizing temporary food events needs a food operator's permit from the East Shore District Health Department to serve foods to the public. These events are usually shorter than a week, outdoors and under tents, such as fairs, carnivals, church dinners, public exhibitions, wild game dinners, festivals, school and community functions.

Applications for a temporary food service license must be submitted at least 14 days prior to the event. A food license is good for up to 14 days. For information, call 481-4233.
