More than 1,000 plates of fried dough flew from the Holy Rosary friers Thursday night, making the opening day of the church's 39th annual Festa the most successful ever, said church trustee Carmine Pitney. The church grounds were filled with people coming from across the state and beyond for the Festa's famous fried dough, rare Italian pastries, lasagna, pasta fagioli, fried calamari and more, all whipped up by church members over the last several weeks.
