Register Staff Those struggling to find work in a shaky economy got some relief Wednesday as Gov. M. Jodi Rell announced she has signed an agreement with the U.S. Department of Labor that extends unemployment benefits by 13 weeks for eligible recipients.

"This extension will provide much needed financial help for people who have exhausted their state benefits," Rell said in a statement. "This extra 13 weeks will be a big boost for people during these difficult economic times, and will provide extra time for them to transition into new jobs and learn new skills."
