FOXBORO, Mass. -- In the midst of the most difficult week of his life, Kevin Faulk used football as an escape valve, a way to take his mind off the situation at hand. Two days after his mother, Mary Vivian Faulk, died, the Patriots running back tuned in from his home in Louisiana and watched the team's season opener against Indianapolis with family and friends. "She was a diehard Patriots fan," Faulk said Wednesday in his first public appearance since leaving the team three weeks ago to be by his mother's side. "Like everyone else in this situation, you're down, but with my friends and family -- and my faith in God -- it really helped me out a whole lot."See the full content of this document
