6 Schools to Start Exercise Program; Two 10-Minute Breaks a Day to Combat Obesity, Sharpen Focus

At the Katherine Brennan School, every teacher will be teaching physical education as part of their regular curriculum. The Connecticut Health Foundation has donated $85,000 to help the New Haven Public Schools launch an anti-obesity program in six schools.

On Wednesday, 20 second graders in the Take 10! programs at the Katherine Brennan School gave a little demonstration to superintendent Reginald Mayo by giving a virtual basketball game. They hopped down the court, dribbled an invisible ball, stretched out, and bouncing around in general, said Megan McCaffrey, a spokesperson for the New Haven Public Schools. "They just gave a little demonstration," she said.
