With the football game tied midway through the fourth quarter, Hillhouse senior Marvin Batts made a play a captain should. Batts, a defensive back, intercepted a pass to set up the Academics at the Branford 33-yard line with 6 minutes, 22 seconds remaining. The clutch defensive play withstanding, it was what Batts did on the next series that eventually left the biggest impression.

Batts, who doubles as a wide receiver, caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from fellow senior, quarterback Keerome Lawrence, that capped an improbable comeback for Hillhouse in a thrilling 26-20 Southern Connecticut Conference Division II West victory Friday at McVeigh Field.
