CROMWELL -- Bubba Watson's mood changed from one instant to the next, from happy-go-lucky quipster to tearful, then thankful, and all shades of real in between. Watson is an unusually popular PGA Tour player, despite having never won in five years before striking it rich at the Travelers Championship Sunday with a two-hole playoff victory over Scott Verplank and Corey Pavin.

Part of it stems from the fact he's pure testosterone off the tee, averaging a PGA Tour-leading 304.5 yards per drive. He hit one 396 yards on the 72nd hole Sunday. Take away the aid of the cart path on the drive and it probably wasn't an inch over 375 yards.
