CLINTON -- Distressed by the $1.1 million difference between the purchase price and the appraised value of 97-acre Camp Hadar, First Selectman James McCusker Jr. has suggested acquisition of the property through eminent domain. But the idea was rebuffed by selectmen and finance board Chairman Peter Neff, who believe the town should abide both by the terms of the purchase agreement and the commitment to allow voters to decide whether the town should buy the property as open space.
