Educators Grilled On Test Scores

EAST HAVEN -- Several Board of Education members questioned administrators this week about what they see as disappointing 2003 Connecticut Mastery Test scores. Board members also questioned why one school -- East Haven Academy -- appears to consistently outperform all the other schools. They asked what can be done to share whatever the academy, an alternative middle school, is doing right.

All of East Haven's schools are making progress and the key is not strictly to compare overall scores year-to-year, but to measure progress each time a student takes the tests, said Administrative Director Anthony Serio.
