Letter to the Editor: Seems Like Beach Column Now Written by Al- Zarqawi

Summary

My first impression upon reading Randall Beach's "Portrait of Iraqi life" was: There he goes again with the usual suspects, i.e. Abu Ghraib prison, American soldiers shooting innocent Iraqi civilians, an absurd, interminable war, ad nauseam. There's the naive Beach at it again, joining so many in the media, trying to incite public opinion against our effort in Iraq. Beach this time uses the cover of a willing stooge, Eman Ahmad Khamas, a human rights activist, to make his arguments and expects the public to believe the legitimacy of his claims.

But suddenly it occurs to me that even Beach certainly wouldn't believe that Iraqis were better off under Saddam Hussein. Nor would he believe that if we removed our troops, suddenly there would be peace in Iraq and Khamas would be able to go to the theater as she says she did under Saddam, where "at least we had security." She apparently is unaware of the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis murdered by Saddam.
