Editor's note: Here are some excerpted comments about today's editorial, "Club owners must pay for safety," which was first published at NewHavenRegister.com. There was never this type of violence when there were at least two, three officers standing in all of the club doorways. This in addition to the assigned bar detail made for a large number of officers and a strong presence downtown. Now all you have is six officers and a supervisor. The police are woefully outnumbered, and by the time that help arrives the situation is completely out of control
