I praise your editorial concerning HUSKY and Medicaid dental fees. I have been practicing dentistry for many years in the New Haven area. I have always selectively treated patients who are in need but do not have the means to pay. I say selectively because, as you noted in your editorial, if I were to treat all comers who had Medicaid or HUSKY insurance, I would be out of business.
I have been a leader in the New Haven and state dental associations for many years and know I am not alone in philanthropy toward people in need. Last year, our membership was surveyed and more than 400 dentists responded positively to the call to treat HUSKY-insured patients if the fees were set at the 70th percentile for routine Connecticut fees for dentistry.See the full content of this document
