Drive-by Shooter Sent to Prison

Summary


A former West Haven man who committed a slew of violent crimes in the Naugatuck Valley, including a drive-by shooting in Ansonia and a police chase in Derby last year during which he struck and injured an officer with his car, was sentenced Wednesday to serve seven years in prison. Superior Court Judge Brian T. Fischer called 23- year-old Thomas Hailey a reckless criminal with "a total disregard for human life," before imposing a sentence of 15 years in prison, suspended after seven served.

Hailey in April had pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal possession of a firearm and one count each of possession of narcotics, attempted second-degree assault and first-degree assault.
