Summary


Nostalgia can't save a Yale area business, the Yankee Doodle Coffee and Sandwich Shop, or as it is more commonly known, the Doodle. But, the outpouring of support, primarily from Yale alumni who had eaten at the Elm Street restaurant since it opened in 1950, must be both gratifying and encouraging to Rick Beckwith, who took over running the Doodle from his father.

The shoebox-sized eatery with its 12 stools was a friendly place that served good food cheaply.
