Don't Be Duped by Rhetoric?

Summary

Barth Keck has a legitimate point regarding how easily the masses are influenced by techniques of persuasion. My concern is that Keck reveals his own techniques of persuasion. Keck uses examples that both defend President Barack Obama and attack the tea party movement. I'm not debating the validity of his examples or to express my political views. I simply point out the hypocrisy of Keck's influencing his students, a young and impressionable audience, about propaganda. Through his seemingly objective article, Keck actually exposes, or more accurately imposes, his own viewpoint.

I was gratified to see that many other readers were not duped by Keck's rhetoric. As comforting as this may be, I feel it is important to shed light on this flaw -- possibly reaching some of the young adults Keck claims to be teaching, so they will be aware of this dichotomy.
