Dickinson Wins 13th Term in Wallingford; Gop Loses Council

WALLINGFORD -- Incumbent Mayor William Dickinson Jr. successfully fended off two challengers Tuesday to win a 13th consecutive term . Dickinson defeated an independent candidate, real estate broker Lucille Trzcinski, and Democrat James Vumbaco, whom the mayor had defeated in a two-way mayoral race in 2005. Dickinson's margin of victory in some districts was as much as three times larger than either of his rivals.

But Dickinson was modest in victory, saying he was nervous at the possible outcome of the three-way race.
