DERBY -- School officials are grappling with disproportionate second-grade class sizes in the city's two elementary schools. Interim Superintendent of Schools Charles DiCenso said there are three second-grade classes at both Irving School and Bradley School; while Bradley School averages 15 children per class, Irving School is averaging 25 students per class.

"Ironically, if you look at all the figures throughout the district, that's about the only class that's out of whack. This particular grade is overloaded in that geographical location," DiCenso said.
