Courting support from a voting bloc 300,000 strong, the two Democrats running for governor are wooing their party's women with a bouquet of campaign promises that tackle equal pay, child support and domestic violence. Mayors John DeStefano Jr. of New Haven and Dannel P. Malloy of Stamford have made women's issues a central focus of their campaign platforms, calling for programs responding to domestic violence, equal pay laws and statewide universal pre- kindergarten.

Today, DeStefano will campaign at a day care in Hartford to pitch reforming the state's child support system.
