Defense Spending Bill Bound for Bush

Summary

WASHINGTON -- A $447 billion defense spending authorization bill for fiscal year 2005 is headed to President Bush's desk after passage Saturday in the Senate and House of Representatives. Saturday's bill authorizes funding for Connecticut projects including the purchase of 59 new or overhauled Stratford-built Sikorsky H-60 family helicopters, and $4.1 billion for 22 new F/A- 22 Raptor fighters, each powered by two Middletown-built Pratt & Whitney F119-PW-100.
