Cockatiel Takes Refuge at Audubon Center in Milford

Summary


Whoever coined the phrase "bird brain" must not have known any birds like the cockatiel that found its way to a local bird sanctuary this week after either flying away from home or being released by its owner. The white, yellow and grey bird with long tail feathers - believed to be a male - was discovered this week at the Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center by a visiting professor from Sacred Heart University. It has affectionately been dubbed "Sweet Pea," by the staff who can't say the name without that "Awww" sound in their voices.

"He's scared, he's lonely, but when he's riding in the car he gets comfortable and eats his food," said Catherine Urbain, the center's program and events coordinator. "He's a beautiful bird."
