Last time we ran into The Alternate Routes, the Bridgeport band had just signed with Vanguard Records -- home to the wonderful Camper Van Beethoven, among others -- and was heading out on the road. March hadn't yet turned into April, and the five guys in the group couldn't wait for their first big tour, one that would send them all over the country and even put them in front of a national audience on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien." "It was so great," says guitarist Eric Donnelly. "It's pretty amazing to see the whole country. It was the most ambitious run for us and a great accomplishment to get under our belt."

As you probably know by now, the Routes -- Donnelly, singer/ guitarist Tim Warren, bassist Chip Johnson, keyboardist Mike Sembos and drummer Stephen Chopek -- originally released "Good and Reckless and True" on their own, just about a couple years ago. But the debut disc got into the right hands and Vanguard snatched the quintet up earlier this year, re-releasing the record at the beginning of 2007.
