City Police Seek Suspect in Theft of Cruiser

Summary


NEW HAVEN -- A 26-year-old man who allegedly jumped into the cruiser of a police officer who had been chasing him, then hit another cruiser before fleeing on foot, is a very wanted man in the city right now. Sgt. Tony Zona said police are looking for Richard Massenburg, who has two addresses, 111 Carmel St. and 276 W. Ivy St. When they get him, Massenburg will be charged with several crimes, including, two counts of criminal attempt to assault a police officer; assault of a police officer; second-degree larceny; first degree reckless endangerment; evading responsibility; interfering with police; second degree criminal trover for rendering the cruiser unusable.

To add to Massenburg's plate, there are already two active warrants for his arrest, Zona said.
