Summary
EAST HAVEN -- A checkpoint on Saltonstall Parkway and Main Street over the weekend netted four DUI arrests, including that of a man from Ecuador who now faces deportation. Police Sgt. Gary DePalma said the checkpoints funded by a state grant are key in getting dangerous drivers under the influence off the roads. He said six checkpoints last fiscal year led to more than 20 arrests. DePalma said many fatal accidents through the years involve people driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs.
The most recent checkpoint led to two arrests related to alcohol and two to drugs.See the full content of this document
