Summary
NEW HAVEN -- Neighborhood Music School will hold its annual gala, called "Caribbean Soul," today, 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. In addition to the Neighborhood Music School's own Pantastic Steel Ensemble, which plays a mix of calypso, island folk, classical and jazz, several Caribbean bands will play as part of a "Caribbean Cabaret" of Afro Caribbean dance, vocal and instrumental performances.
Directed by Debby Teason, the NMS steel band program was started in the 1990s when the school acquired a core ensemble of steel pans built by Carl Chase of Maine.See the full content of this document
