Summary
The story about a captured U.S. soldier appearing in a Taliban video did not make the front page. The story went straight to my heart, bringing back memories of the horrors that I endured as a prisoner during World War II. I was a prisoner of the Germans and had to dig trenches for the enemy during the Normandy invasion. I was 18 years old.
The video revealed that the soldier has a girlfriend that he hopes to marry and a loving family he may never see again, the thoughts of which fill him with fear. I feel his pain perhaps more than the average person because I lived through a similar disaster. But, the Lord sent me some good Dutch people and some German nuns who risked their lives to save mine.See the full content of this document
