Branford Asks N.Y. State to Help Block Broadwater

Summary


The Representative Town Meeting, which two years ago was the first government body in Connecticut to unanimously oppose the Broadwater floating liquefied natural gas facility, has sent a bipartisan letter urging New York Gov. Elliot Spitzer to block the project.

The letter, signed by all 30 RTM members, adds the body's voice to a chorus that also includes Gov. M. Jodi Rell and others, in the wake of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's recent finding that Broadwater would have no significant impact on the environment in Long Island Sound.
