SHELTON -- Police are asking anyone who may have dropped money in a "Donate to Jake" jar to contact detectives after the fund- raiser was deemed illegitimate. Detective Sgt. Kevin Ahern said Jake's aunt, Carol Modugno, 43, of 33 Ann Ave., distributed the jars around town, including the Kelly Mart gas station, soliciting money for her ailing young nephew.
But Modugno lacked the approval of Jake's parents, and Jake's father, Lucas Byck of Redding, complained to police in August that the fund-raisers were unwanted, and that none of the money raised had been sent to his son.See the full content of this document
