If you have young children learning how to fish or know an adult who is a novice at the sport, based on my experience on Saturday at Wharton Brook Park in Wallingford, if you want them to get hooked on fishing you should take them to a Trout Park.
Wharton Brook Park is one of 11 designated Trout Parks in Connecticut. The Trout Parks are designated areas specifically set aside for youngsters and novices. The parks are heavily stocked with fish. All 11 sites were stocked prior to opening day, five were stocked again on opening day (Saturday) and the remaining were stocked a day or two after opening day.
