Ansonia Mom Was Full of Surprises

Summary

ANSONIA -- Lifelong resident Marion Pozucek knew how to throw a surprise party. "I was in my freshman year at UConn, and it was my birthday," said daughter Lauren Moir of Darien. "It was just a regular day for me, nothing special. I went down to dinner, where my friends wished me a happy birthday. When I got up to my room, my mother was there waiting for me with a cake and presents and balloons, and she and I and all my friends had a party. She brought an overnight bag and stayed in my room. We ended the evening by having a giant water fight in the hall. She doused one of my male friends, absolutely soaked him, and he instantly fell in love with her and never forgot her."

Pozucek died June 21 at 70.
