Amphenol Earns 22% More in 4q

Amphenol Corp. earned $55.8 million, or 63 cents a share, during the fourth quarter, marking a 22.3 percent increase over earnings of $45.6 million, or 52 cents a share, during the same period a year earlier. Earnings were buoyed by an increase in sales of the firm's interconnect product systems, the company said Wednesday. Fourth- quarter sales totaled $508.1 million, up 25.8 percent from sales of $404 million the same period a year earlier.

For the year as a whole, the company boosted earnings 26.4 percent, to $206.3 million, or $2.33 a share, from $163.3 million, or $1.86 a share, in 2004.
