Aldermen to Vote On Co Detectors

Summary


The Board of Aldermen Monday will vote on two ordinance amendments requiring owners of multi-family properties to install carbon monoxide detectors and to file contact information with the tax assessor's office. Sponsoring Alderwoman Maria Reyes Rivera, D- 15, of Fair Haven said the ordinance amendment requiring carbon monoxide detectors would protect renters and people in buildings with attached garages from CO poisoning.

State law now mandates CO monitors in newly constructed homes. The city's full Board of Aldermen in December passed a resolution urging the state's General Assembly to pass stricter language.
