Summary
The accidental spill of less than one gallon of highly concentrated hydrochloric acid in a lab at 5 Science Park early Monday afternoon forced the emergency evacuation of 100 people, including students from Amistad Academy High School located in the same building, said Ralph Black, the Fire Department's assistant chief of operations. Two building workers, including one in close proximity to the spill, were taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital after reporting respiratory irritation, Black said.
The spill occurred on the first floor when two lab workers for BetaPharma Inc. were moving chemicals they planned to bring to a new office and one container fell and broke, releasing the hydrochloric acid, according to a spokeswoman for the state Department of Environmental Protection.See the full content of this document
