We Are All in Constant Sales Mode?
AT a sales conference a few years ago, one of the presenters proclaimed, "Everybody sells." His statement has come back to me frequently since that time. In every marketing or sales course I have taught, some time during the semester I recall that marketing battle cry. I can only hope that my students have held on to the statement as I have. Businesses today -- and in fact our entire society -- are in constant sales mode. All media, all the time, by all sources are marketing, spinning or sell...

The research also indicates that hands-free devices do not eliminate the risks because the conversation, itself, is...

My Backyard Is Full of Bird Dweebs. Yours, Too. [Derived Headline]
My backyard is full of bird dweebs. Yours, too. They're youngsters, full of vibrant energy, but clueless. These big babies are adorable. First, they just follow their parents, screaming piteously for a food handout. Then they start looking for food on their own. Their parents try to help. A kingfisher mom brought her three big-headed babies to my yard in mid-July. She assembled her brood on a branch overhanging Malley's Pond in Guilford. This branch, the tip of an oak tree that fell 18 years ...
