Desantis Named Gatorade's Best
From staff reports Greg DeSantis of Notre Dame-Fairfield is the 2008-09 Gatorade Connecticut Boys' Basketball Player of the Year. He is the first player from the school to be chosen. The award recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character. DeSantis is now a finalist for the Gatorade national award to be announced in late March.

Associated Press NFL owners passed four player safety rules for next season on Tuesday and adjusted the calls on the kind of tackle that injured Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in the 2008 opener. Indy 500 Racer Lloyd Ruby Dies at 81
WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Lloyd Ruby, who raced in the Indianapolis 500 for 18 straight years and won the 24 Hours at Daytona in 1966, has died. He was 81. The death Monday of the lifelong Wichita Falls resident was confirmed by Sidney Lunn of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. Lunn said a cause of death wasn't listed. Ruby's best finish at Indy was third in 1964. He was inducted into the Indianapolis 500 Hall of Fame in 1991.
